| We
are
what we eat - true or false? Suppose our body is iron deficient and we decide to eat lots of spinach, molasses etc. - but our cells do not absorb it, then what? So factually - we are what we absorb, not just what we eat. Recent studies reveal that even the healthiest individuals show very poor nutrient absorption. What causes that? The nutrient assimilation process largely depends on trillions of beneficial, gut-friendly bacteria which are very sensitive. They are also called Pro-Biotics (for life). In contrast to that we have Anti-Biotics (against life). One course of Anti-Biotics wipes out most of the friendly intestinal flora. Chlorine, which is added to water to kill harmful bacteria also kills the good guys. Not only that, during five minutes under the shower the body absorbs, through the skin, the amount of chlorine contained in eight glasses of water. Ascorbic Acid, which is used in so many food products as a preservative to prevent bacteria growth, kills intestinal bacteria. Residues of fungicides, pesticides, synthetic fertilizers as well as artificial colours (coal tar dyes) and flavours and numerous food additives all affect the activity of our little helpers in the gut. We also absorb, again through the skin, household cleaning chemicals, solvents and caustic solutions during our daily chores. Is it any wonder then that we all suffer from poor nutrient absorption? Without sufficient nutrient assimilation there is no chance of developing a strong immune system. All forms of cancer are associated with a weak immune system. Therefore the key to optimum health and vitality is superior cell nourishment which depends on a prolific, highly active and healthy intestinal flora. Individuals who regularly consume sufficient amounts of Pro-Biotic cultures can absorb up to five times the amount of nutrients from their daily food intake to those who don’t. Needless to say that, what we put into our body ought to have some nutrients in it to start with. In other words, the better the quality of the food (broad spectrum of nutrients), the greater the chance to get something out of it. Although the majority of available food today is very poor in nutrient profile by over-processing and refining, mother nature always has a solution for any problem that we create out of ignorance for her laws. This is where the Super Foods come into the picture. Packed into small amounts are mindboggeling quantities of every nutrient the body needs, particularly in the case of Spirulina, one of our main ingredients in Shakti. Young, fresh Barley - Grass is another one, known for it’s highly alkalizing properties. The Noni Fruit is considered a miracle among plants. Let’s take a look at the individual Whole Food ingredients and how they can benefit us toward improved health. Barley Grass Powder Dehydrated whole Barley Grass leaves retain the natural juice components and fiber as in their fresh form. They contain a wide spectrum of amino acids, enzymes, vitamins and minerals. They are naturally rich in copper, potassium, calcium, iron, manganese, zinc, enzymes and chlorophyll. Barley grass also contains folic acid and the antioxidant vitamins C and E. Minerals include calcium, iron, magnesium, and phosphorus and over 70 trace elements. It contains eighteen amino acids, including the eight essential ones, the ones that we must get from our diet. One teaspoon provides the nutritional equivalent of one serving of a dark green leafy vegetable. Barley Grass has a highly alkalizing effect, which helps to keep the ratio between acidity and alkalinity in our body fluids balanced. Our cells cannot function adequately if the ph-level is too acidic. Most processed foods are acidic, and when we consume too many of them, the acid-alkaline balance is disturbed. It provides strength and muscle expansion to those doing a lot of body work. Remember, bulls build their bodies from barley, wheat and rye! Spirulina Powder Nature’s most complete and nutrient-rich food. It’s a microscopic, spiral shaped sweet water algae. Used for thousands of years by ancient cultures like the Mayans it was regarded as a sacred power food. It contains an astounding balance of more than 100 organic nutrients with an absorption rate of over 90% by the human body, making it one of the easiest assimilable foods known to man. It contains a broad spectrum of vitamins, minerals, enzymes, trace elements, more protein than soya beans and all the essential amino acids. Very high in Vitamin E, Antioxidants, Phytonutrients and B Vitamins such as B1, B2, B3, B5, B6 and B12. For those concerned about their iron levels, Spirulina is the richest whole food source of organic iron as well as GLA ( Gamma Linolenic Acid ), Chlorophyll and Beta-carotene. Because Spirulina is a high protein food with the most remarkable nutritional profile we know of, it is internationally used by athletes to achieve the performance levels needed in todays competetive sports. It is an exellent nutritional source during and after pregnancy. Chlorophyll is the life-blood of plants and very similar in composition to human blood. The most commonly reported effects by people who eat Spirulina is a significant increase in energy and general well being. It works like high octane fuel in a car. The more nutrients we can fuel our bodies with, the more performance our biological machine will give us. Noni Fruit Powder Although known and used for thousands of years by people of the Pacific islands, in China and India, the Noni Fruit has only appeared in the West a few years ago. Recent studies have shown that Noni has the potential to stimulate the immune system, purify the blood, inhibit tumour growth, regulate proper cell function, and even regenerate damaged cells. It has 70% of the painkilling properties of morphine without being a drug and in any way addictive. According to the worlds leading authority into proxeronin (one of the main constituents in Noni), Dr. Ralph Heinicke, it has been found to break many hard-core addictions in a very short period of time as many ex-alcoholics, smokers and drug addicts have testified. It stimulates the pineal gland in the brain to increase production of melatonin and serotonin, the ‘happy hormones’, and can result in an overall feeling of contentment and wellbeing. The tropical Noni is a most remarkable fruit. It has fast become the best, natural, broad-spectrum remedy that is available at present. Noni did not show any side effects as can be noticed when taking medicine. Apart from the unusual high number of different components, it contains 800 times more proxeronin than pineapple, which is the next closest carrier of proxeronin. Our body produces xeronin, which is a complicated chemical process, that requires a number of other ingredients. It appears that those other ingredients are usually available to the body, except for proxeronin. Stress and sickness quickly eat up any proxeronin deposits, leaving us depleted. The liver is able to store proxeronin, which could be the reason that Chinese medicine calls proxeronin "Defender of the body". Noni could be one of today's most exciting and promising nutraceutical healers. Pro-Biotic Whole Food Concentrate is our custom-manufactured formula consisting of either biodynamic or organic grains and legumes, malt, ionic minerals (which are more readily absorbed than colloidal minerals) and 13 of the most essential gut-friendly bacteria as well as beneficial yeasts. All ingredients are ground into a fine flour, mixed with purified water and inoculated with the friendly bacteria culture. Left to ferment at controlled temperatures the bacteria pre-digest the ingredients and multiply. Afterward the mixture is dried and powdered. It took many years to develop this bacteria strain to be super resistant and it is the only process in the world that has been trademarked under the name FloraFerm™. Although the concentrate contains wheat, the typical effect it normally has on gluten and wheat allergy sufferers may surprisingly not be experienced. After fermentation the pre-digested ingredients behave completely different because they are in fact no longer the same. If you do suffer from wheat and gluten allergies please be sensible and try small amounts first and consult with your health care-practitioner!
